The modern orthopaedic implants for applications in hips, knees, shoulders, and spines are composed of hard metal alloys or ceramics. tribo-logical sub-component is soft materials with good tribological properties – e.g. UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecule Weight Polyethylene). need to be machined into their final shape after the polymerization consolidation a blank profile near-net shaped implant. So machining crucial technology that can generate an accurate precise implant should comply joints’ function. However, affect topography integrity surface, its resistance wear. technology, cutting tools, conditions impact physical mechanical entire implant, limiting life span creating replaced. basic technologies turning milling (each used as roughing finishing). There many ways machine these surfaces. Many problems such low rigidity product, poor thermal material, high melt viscosities, sticking material edge (production built-up edges) have been solved. damaged by excessive heat, feed rate, force, tool micro-geometry. shapes dimensions customized vary broadly humans this complicates technology. No standard programs repeatedly so each joint must designed produced individually. it results longer better comfort patients.
